  1. hi i tried rooting my samsung galaxy s5 model number g900w8. Hovewer , once i root the phone i get a message saying ” factory mode is on , turning wifi off ” . The phone then restarts :(.

I saw some other forums where they had commented about turning off the factory mode in the device via root explorer by writing a ON in the factorymodeapp file inside the efs folder and some talks about writing original firmware. Both these methods did not work for me.

Also if i try to open up the efs folder, i see that is empty. however use of *#06# still gives me the IMEI number.

    can anyone help me here?

    • I would suggests you factory reset your phone. Use the stock recovery. If that does not solve your problem then use Kies for recovery and finally if that also does not fix the issue flash the stock firmware using Odin. Hopefully it works for you 🙂

  2. Is there any way to factory reset my S5and NOT have all the bloatware? Just today CHATON suddenly appeared, and I am sort of tired of Samsung and Rogers deciding what’s on my phone? I guess my question is, is rooting the only way? What are the ramifications of rooting down the road (if any) do I need to get Rogers to do anything after I reset? Is it complicated to clean out the phone? Are there any benefits, other than removing stuff? Is the process reversible? And how long does it take?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help you can provide….

  3. quick question, I’m looking at my phone information and it says its running on kernel version 3.4.0-7722356 . Will this be an problem if I root my phone using the method described in this thread? Thank you Tausif Akram.
