Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Yesterday, we showed you how to manually update Galaxy Note 2 to official Android 4.4.2. In today post we are going to learn how to root your phone on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. So if you’ve updated your phone, let’s move on and get rooted. The rooting method we’re going to use in this guide is CF-Auto root by ChainfireXDA. I have discussed it so many times is why you should use this method, in simpler words it is one of the safe and quick way to gain root access. It is highly recommended that you first read the requirements and guidelines section in order to safely and successfully done with the process.

Warning!! Rooting your phone voids warranty, therefore root at your own risk.

Requirements and Guidelines:

  • This guide is only applicable on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 international variant model number GT-N7100. Do not apply it on another model or device, it may brick your phone.
  • Make sure you’ve already installed Kies or USB drivers on your PC.
  • CF-Root package: CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip
  • Odin3 v3.07 is already included in the CF-Auto-Root package.
  • Go to Settings> Developers Options and Enable the USB debugging option.
  • Before you proceed, check battery status on your phone and make sure that it is enough, at least 50% is required in order to avoid uncertain shutdown during the rooting process.
  • Last but not the least, Carefully read and follow the instructions.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 on Android 4.4.2

Step 1: First of all download the required CF-Root package and unzip it on a suitable location:

Step 2: Reboot your Galaxy Note 2 to Download Mode:

  • Power off your phone
  • Hold down the VOLUME DOWN + HOME and POWER all buttons simultaneously for a while till you see a warning message on the screen.
  • Press the VOLUME UP to continue.

Step 3: Next, connect your phone to PC via the USB cable and check that Odin3 detects your device.

Step 4: Once your phone makes a successfully connection with Odin3, Click on the PDA button and select the CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5 file.

Step 5: Wait for Odin to detect and initialize the rooted kernel file and hit the START button.

Step 6: Have patience and within a few seconds your phone will be rooted. Now SuperSU and stock recovery shall be installed on your phone. Once done, your phone will automatically reboots and Odin3 will show the green labelled  message ‘PASS!!’.

That’s it! Congratulations your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has successfully been rooted. You can now enjoy full root access. However you may ” Unfortunately SuperSU has stopped “, but don’t worry here is how to fix this issue:

  • Download and install the latest SuperSU APK
  • Open SuperSU app (Update the binary if prompted) and allow it to disable Knox
  • Reboot the device.

  1. hey, how come right after I’ve gone in pass, rebooted, right after everything my phone seems to work fine but afterward after I log into screen it dies. 🙁

  2. I had the same issue and fixed it like this –

    1. Installed ES File explorer and open it.
    2. Press Menu on the phone and scroll down and turn ON Root Explorer and hit Back.
    3. Choose Device from the top menu (dropdown)
    4. From the bottom menu, choose search and search for super and you should see superuser.apk.
    5. Choose that and install it.

    From there you should be able to disable KNOX and open SuperSu
