Root Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUENA6

Recently, We showed you, How you can easily Update your Galaxy Note 3 to XXUENA6 Firmware, the update was released through OTA and was initially released in  Poland and by now hopefully other regions have also received the kitkat update. Those of you who are updated to Android 4.4.2 will now mostly likely be looking for the root tutorial. Rooting Galaxy Note 3 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Guidelines and Requirements:

  1. This Android Rooting guide is only meant for Samsung Galaxy Note 3, therefore do not try to apply it on another variant or see your device brick.
  2. Rooting your phone will void its warranty.
  3. Enable USB Debugging from Settings and Developers Options.
  4. Before going for the root process check that you’ve got good enough battery charge
  5. Last but not the least, Proceed at your own risk.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) Running on Android 4.2.2 KitKat XXUENA6 Using CF-Root

Step 1: First you need to download the CF-Root package for Galaxy Note 3.

Step 2: Unzip the downloaded file on your desktop, You’ll get the tar.md5 file and Odin.

Step 3: Now Reboot your phone into Download Mode by Pressing and Holding the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time till you see a warning message on your screen. You’ll be asked to hit the Volume Up to continue into download mode.

Step 4: Once in the Download Mode, Run the Odin3-v1.85.exe and Connect your Galaxy Note 3 to PC via the USB Cable.

Step 5: At this point make sure that Odin has recognized your device and check that the ID:COM port is yellow or blue. You should also notice Added!! in the message section, which confirms that it has successfully made connection with Odin.

Step 6: Finally, Hit the PDA button and browse the CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5, file and Click on the Start button to begin the rooting process.

Step 7: The process will complete in a few seconds and once it is done, Odin will notify you via the PASS!! message and during this your device will automatically reboots.

Step 8: Congrats!! Your Galaxy Note 3 has been successfully Rooted. Check that SuperSU has been installed and to Verify Root Access, Open Google Play Store and search for ‘Root Checker‘ App. Install and Run it.

  1. i have a problem although.i followed the steps but i can’t enter even manually in recovery mode to flash a custom rom.the message says with red colour “android system recovery
    KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6” and some options like reboot system now,apply update from adb, from external storage, wipe data, factory reset,wipe cache, apply update from cache.
    so, what i have to do, so i can flash a new rom?

    • you are using wrong button combo you should be using power vol down and home button! you are doing power vol up and home

  2. this is the only method that worked I closed my eyes and followed step by step black and white what this page says… and my note3 on Tmobile Usa is now rooted! got supersu… I did brick my phone a few times until I found this tutorial thanks alot 🙂

  3. It says note 3, but at the top it says galaxy mega as a requirement they are 2 different phones. I have the note 3 n900V running kitkat 4.4.2 please reply before I go through with the root.

  4. Hello Imran, I can’t get ODIN to recognize my phone. my phone display shows the android guy and says at the top ODIN MODE in red, and then some writing and then at the bottom say UDC START. What am I doing wrong? please help

  5. I get 1/3 of the way through, then I get a red FAIL! in Odin. Ran Odin provided in the download (Odin 3 v3.07) then I ran Odin with the one you said to use, (Odin 3 v1.85) and I still get the same result, even tried Odin3 v3.09. On my Note 3, once it fails, in red it says,

    UDC START
    SYS REV CHECK FAIL : No Version
    SECURE MAGICCODE CHECK FAIL : recovery

    Running 4.4.2 on SM-N900V
    Baseband version : N900VVRUCNC4
    USB Debugging Enabled

    when i check SU dont grant access and root checker dont verify it as rooted

  7. Unzip the downloaded file on your desktop, You’ll get the tar.md5 file and Odin. Does this mean we have to do it on a laptop/desktop computer or download on the mobile phone and unzip?

  8. i am in the half of the process and then stays in the same place for hours, almost in the middle, odin says ” cache.img.ext4
    and never going on…any tips? i have the Note 3 N900.

  9. Hello.. i tried rooting my note 3 as stated above but it shows FAIL! a few seconds after i start the downloading process. Can i know what is the problem? My note 3 is SM-N9005.
