You’ll normally and usually do need to Backup data on your Android when making changes to your phone or changing your Smartphone in order to move your existing data to micro sd card, PC or cloud storage services, so that you’re able to restore it safely and successfully in times of need. There are plenty of App on Play Store which offers to easily do it. I have searched and reviewed a number of apps and finally have come up with following top 5 list.

1. Super Backup : SMS & Contacts

Super Backup is a simple app, in terms of user interface, user friendliness. I do believe that the developer of the app has really done a wise thing, by making it more simpler with basic UI, instead of making it more complex as you may have noticed in some apps, but they do not serve their purpose, they just show up. I am sure Super Backup will not let you down and will perfectly serve its purpose by helping you to Backup your Apps, Contacts, SMS, Call logs, Bookmarks and Calendars to the SD card or Gmail.

Other common features includes:
  • Backup apps to SD card
  • Backup & restore app’s data(need root)
  • Batch restore apps from SD card (need root)
  • Backup Contacts & SMS & Call logs & Bookmarks & Calendars to SD card

2. Mobile Backup & Restore

This is a kind of new, unique App to Backup almost any type of data (Contacts, SMS, Call logs, Photos, Music, Videos, Apps) from your Android Phone or Tablet to secure and cloud-based servers, so that you’re able to access it at anytime anywhere. Perfect about the is that you can schedule the Backup process for specific items. App is developed by one of the most trusted brand called Avast. However one disadvantage I felt and you people may also, is that the app is not completely free, you can use its basic features and for other like Music, Videos and Apps you’ll have to buy the premium version of the app. However, it does provide you with basic features, which I am sure most of you will need to Backup your Contacts, SMS, Phone logs and Photos. Overall App is great and is updated on regularly basis and above all, is really simple to use.

Helium is another great app by ClockworkMod, they developed a number of good and useful apps for Android community and many of them are free to use. Helium perfectly supports both the Backup and Restore options to PC and your device. The App is perfect for both Rooted and Non-Rooted users, but non will have to do a little more efforts in order to set it up and running on their android devices, the step by step procedure is given on the app play store link, which you can visit via the below link. Sorry Motorola users may not benefit from it as it is having some issues on that firmwares.

5. Titanium Backup (Root Required)

Titanium is no doubt is counted one of the best Backup App but it only works with Rooted devices and that is the main reason, why I have putted this on the last of list. Because of its features (Almost Backup/Restore/Delete any kind of data on your Android) It has immensely received a good response, reviews and feedback from a number of Android users and expert. Just like other apps it has two versions, basic is free and for advance you’ll have to buy the premium version. Additionally you can also use Titanium App to get rid of the bloatware (stock installed Apps). Overall, it offers you the same features as other like scheduling and so on.

  1. How on earth did titanium made it to the top 5?
The design of that app is so poor that people would need to read a book on how to use it. Is completely non intuitive. I just emailed their support group about making that poorly designed app stop saving my backups on my phone memory, even when I linked my dropbox to it.
