Guidelines and Requirements:

1. This Update tutorial is only for Galaxy S I9000, double check your device model number in the settings->about device tab. Do not try to flash these files on another variant of Galaxy S.

2. You a required to have Rooted Galaxy S I9000 with Custom Recovery Installed, It can be any, ClockworkMod or TWRP.

How to Update Galaxy S I9000 to Android 4.3 Using the MacKay Custom ROM

1. First of all copy the Android 4.3 Update and GApps zip packages to the internal storage of your phone.

2. Once files are completely transferred, Reboot your Galaxy S into Recovery Mode.

3. Nandroid Backup is really important, that is the first thing you should do using the recovery options. Save the Nandroid Backup to your external Micro SD Card.

4. Now Wipe data and Factory reset your Galaxy S, to make it prepare for new installation.

For CWM Recovery – Select Wipe data/Factory Reset then Wipe Cache Partition then select Advanced->Wipe Dalvik Cache.

For TWRP Recovery – Tap the WIPE  option, then Factory Reset and swipe to confirm.

5. Flash the MacKay Android 4.3 JB Custom ROM.

For CWM Recovery – Select ‘Install Zip from SD Card’ and navigate to Storage Directory and select MacKay JB ROM zip package from the internal storage directory.

For TWRP Recovery – Tap the ‘Install’ option and select the MacKay JB Custom Build zip package from the internal storage of your Galaxy S.

6. Use the same method (Step 5) to flash the GApps zip package, which will install Google Apps.

7. After all the step are completed successfully, From the Recovery Options, Choose to Reboot your Galaxy S.

8. Once your device boots normally, Now you Galaxy S should be running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on your Galaxy S.

  1. Must I install CWM or TWRP?

    On my Galaxy S GT-I9000 with Android 2.1, I search in Market, but I cannot find ROM Manager, GooManager nor “Recovery Tools” to install ClockworkMod or TWRP. Is there another way to install these?
