How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 was officially released in January, 2014 with latest Android OS 4.4.2 KitKat. If you’ve got hands on this device, you probably would be ambitious to get root access and gain more privileges to install root required apps, Custom Recovery and Custom ROM. Guidelines and Requirements:

  • Rooting your phone will voids its warranty. But most of the time, it can be restored by installing Stock ROM Using Odin!!
  • The root method is working for all variants of Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, however you’ll need to download the correct rooted kernel for your specific model number. (Download Links are given below for all variants)
  • Install USB drivers on your PC. If you’ve installed Samsung Kies that is OK, otherwise download USB drivers.
  • Enable USB debugging by going to Settings> Developers Options.
  • Before you proceed for the rooting procedure, it is highly recommended that you first check your battery status.
  • Last but not the least, proceed at your own risk.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Using CF-Root (All Variants)

Step 1: Hopefully you’ve downloaded the correct CF-Root rooted kernel for your device. Extract the CF-Auto-Root and Odin3 files on your desktop.

Step 2: Reboot Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 into Download Mode, Here is how to boot it:

– Power off your device.

– Hold the Volume Down+Home+Power button together until you see a warning triangle on your screen.

–  Further hit the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.

Step 3: Double Click on the Odin3 .exe to initiate the rooting process.

Step 4: While in Download Mode, Connect Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 to PC via the USB cable, wait for a moment until Odin recognize your device. Once it makes connection with Odin3, you’ll notice that the ID: COM port will turn blue with the COM port number.

Step 5: In Odin, click the PDA button and select the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file.

Step 6: Once you selected the correct file, Hit the Start button to begin the rooting process for Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.

Step 7: Finally when kernel file is successfully flushed, You’ll see the PASS!! message on Odin3 screen and your phone will automatically reboots. You can now disconnect your phone from PC and wait till your device reboots normally.

Step 8: Check that SuperSU has been installed on your device. You can further verify root access by installing ‘Root Checker‘ from Google Play Store to verify root access.

Congratulations!! You have successfully Rooted Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware.

Troubleshooting: How to Fix “Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped”?

What if you’re experiencing any errors or issues with SuperSU after rooting. Follow the instructions to solve the issue:

  • Download and install the latest version of SuperSU from Google Play Store.
  • Open SuperSU app (update the binary if prompted) and allow it to disable KNOX.
  • Reboot your device.
  • That’s it!! It should be working fine.

  1. My note pro just went fuzzy during the download and now my tablet is bricked. Do you know where I can download a stock image so I can flash that?

  2. Just performed it on a P900 and everything works perfectly including the S-PEN. Now have SetCPU, RomToolBox Pro and Titanium Back Pro installed and working. Question though, what recovery does this come with and can it be changed with RomToolBox… sorry noob question no doubt but I’m still figuring this stuff out as I go.

    • I do get a !red triangle android when I boot in recovery. Will be looking on how to fix that but if you can help that would be awesome! 🙂

    • For some reason I am missing the flash command on my device so can’t get TeamWin Recovery to update and flash from the device. I did manage to properly install the latest recovery for this device and it pushed it using Odin. All works now although Rom ToolBox reports an update to the recovery 2.7 .1.0 but it’s actually installed and working fine.

  4. I just ordered a wifi version note pro 12.2 from staples. I plan to root it to gain access to the external SD card. My question is can I still follow this tutorial to root the tablet? Has any update issued after this article been a problem to the root proceaa? Thnaks a lot!

    • Odin v3.07 works best for me! If your tablet model is given above then you should be fine to root your tablet otherwise let me know the model number, I will then let you know.

Besides, I read from somewhere else that some people may need to refresh the device with some stock image(?) before rooting it. Is that the case and how can I tell if I need to do so?   5. I’m trying to root my tablet, but I keep soft-bricking it. Fortunately, I’m able to restore it. I have the SM-P900 version. Is there an updated rooting procedure?

  6. I have the p905v and I have tried this with Odin 3.07 and 09. but it keeps failing. Odin sees the tablet. accepts the file but my tablet doesn’t seem to accept the download. any advice? It doesnt change anything on the tablet. I force a restart and it stars right up.

  7. Didnt work, got me stuck on the screen saying firmware update issue with the yellow triangle, luckily i odin ran the recovery file and it fixed it but still no root.

    I`ve follow all the instructions, but, get frezze my tab with Odin with “CHECK” and later the screen get “noisy”. Now It´s blocked: Knox Warranty Void = 1, And can´t restore it , I Can`t use Kies for restoring, and I can`t find a way to restore it.
    Can you help me please? I`ll precciate in advance any help. Thanks.

  10. Yes, I confirm ot will set knox to 1.

    I also confirm that it will give random reboot after the root.
    So be careful.

    If i would have read more before rooting it, i would have wait for another solution… .

    If your device is bicked, i suggest to switch off it ( power + home button pressed for long time)

    And try again.

  11. I got a SM-P905V that looks like a Verizon Demo.
    I tried to root, but received a Fail message.

    It’s possible to root those demo devices with write protection?
