How to take Screenshots on Android Phones and Tablets

Taking screenshots on your device is fun and at the same time is very useful when you want to share something on your screen. You may have heard this phrase a lot, “A picture is worth a thousands words“. It is really true when you want to discuss a feature, a bug and anything else with your friends or developers in case you’re experiencing something wrong with your device or apps. Today I will guide you how to take screenshots on your Android Phone or tablets devices.

Nearly all of the Android Smartphones and Tablets devices has made it easy to take screenshots with some combinations of buttons. However the method of taking screenshots may vary depending on your device and OS version.

How t0 take Screenshots on Samsung Phones and Tablet devices

First of all, let’s talk about Samsung devices, on most Galaxy devices like Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2. You can capture screenshots by holding the ‘Power and Home Buttons‘ simultaneously, until the screen flashes and you hear a shutter sound.

On some other Samsung devices like Galaxy Camera and Galaxy Note 10.1, you can use ‘Volume Down+Power Button‘ at the same time, to take screenshots of your current screen.

However on some devices like Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, you can also enable ‘Palm Swipe to Capture‘ option from Settings->Motions. So, whenever you need to take screenshots, just swipe your palm on your screen, and same like before you screen flashes and you’ll hear the shutter sound.

How to take Screenshots on HTC Phones

Now let’s talk about HTC devices, On most HTC Phones Like HTC One, One X, Desire S, Desire X, Desire HD and most other devices uses the same ‘Power+Volume Down‘ buttons at the same time, and during this your screen flashes and you will hear shutter sound.

However, you can also use the ‘Power+Home‘ Buttons to take screenshots on most HTC Phones.

How to take Screenshots on Nexus Phones and Tablets

Now it comes to Google Nexus devices, Nexus S, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, all have one common method for taking screenshots.

You’ll be using the ‘Power Button+Volume Down‘ simultaneously to take screenshots, you’ll also notice during this the screen flashes for a while with the screenshot thumbnail.

How to take Screenshots on Sony Xperia Phones

Taking screenshots on most Xperia phones like Xperia TX, Xperia V, Xperia Z, Xperia U and Xperia J have the same method as we have used on Nexus devices.

By pressing the ‘Power+Volume Down‘ buttons simultaneously and you’ll notice the screen flashes and you will also hear the shutter sound.

Alternatively you can also use the Power button to take screen shots, but I think some of the Xperia devices may not support this, but you should try it. Hold the power button for a few seconds, until you see the power options and just tap on ‘take screenshot‘ option and you’re done.

How to take Screenshots on LG Phones and Tablets devices

At last, it comes to LG devices, such as Optimus G, Optimus G Pro, Optimus 2X, Optimus 3D, Optimus 4X HD and so on.

To take screenshots, Just hold the ‘Volume Down+Power‘ Buttons together and your screen flashes and you’ll hear the shutter sound.
